?? Questions ??
Here are some of the questions which are frequently asked to us, as well as answers drawn from our own experience and from other professionals (breeders, veterinarian, trainers, etc.).
Q: Will my other dog get along well with my new puppy?
A: In general, there is no problem. Of course, the one that is there for some time can accept more or less well the arrival of another puppy; sometimes he or she will see it like a rival. It is thus important to give as much affection, if not more, with the first dog so that it understands that he will not lose his place and that he does not have to be jealous. After one week, there is good chances that you see them taking a nap together.
Q: Is it possible to have a dog and a cat under the same roof?
A: Certainly. Contrary to the popular belief, even if the dogs and the cats have a very different temperament, it is very possible to make them share the same space of life. It is preferable that the cat is declawed. We had 3 dogs and 1 cat during several years and they get along very well.
Q: Which races are most appropriate to an allergic person?
A: First of all, it is important to know that one can be allergic to the saliva or allergic to the hairs. In the first case, there are highly likely to be allergic to all the races. However, for the hairs, several people are well with the races known as anti-allergens. The schnauzer is our best example, then the poodle. The yorkshire and the shih-tzu, with their long hairs, are also anti-allergens, but the pomeranian and the shetland sheepdog are to be avoided because of their fluffy fur. The chihuahua is not either a good choice.
Q: Miniature, toy, what's the difference?
R: It's not always easy. Each race has its own standards of size or weight. Also, that standards may be differents in a country or another. To unmix all that, there is the standards of size of the poodle and the schnauzer from the Canadian Kennel Club. The other races that we breed have only one possible size.
Poodle
Toy: 25,4 cm (10 inches) or under at the highest point at the shoulder.
Miniature: 38,1 cm (15 inches) or under at the highest point at the shoulder, but in excess of 25,4 cm (10 inches).
Standard: Over 38,1 cm (15 inches) at the highest point at the shoulder.
Schnauzer
Miniature: 30 to 36 cm (12 to 14 inches) at the shoulder.
Standard: Male: 45 to 51 cm (18 to 20 inches) at the shoulder. Female: 43 to 48 cm (17 to 19 inches) at the shoulder.
Giant: Male: 65 to 70 cm (25 ½ to 27 ½ inches) at the shoulder. Female: 60 to 65 cm (23 ½ to 25 ½ inches) at the shoulder.
